FAQ

Where does the money go?

We donate all of the profit we make from selling the prints to our partner charities. As a social enterprise, like all businesses, we have running costs, tax to pay and also need to reinvest to grow, but we guarantee that at least £15 per screenprint goes to the respective partner charity as a donation. We are helped by our very generous production partners who continue to significantly discount their services and allow us to maximise the amount we are able to donate to partner charities as possible.

Why a "guaranteed minimum"?

We wanted to guarantee a minimum donation when people buy a print, but we expect when we come to making the donations that our average donation per print will exceed this amount.

How do you print them?

Our designs are produced using a variety of methods. Our first method is a very traditional method called silkscreen printing where strong arms squeeze the ink through a silk screen containing thousands of small holes. This creates a textured finish that is beautiful and raw, and we hope you love them as much as we do. The ink is mixed by hand, and although the aim is for a specific colour they can sometimes vary by minute amounts. Again this is all part of the artistry and the imperfect but beautiful nature of screen printing.

Our second method is Giclée printing - the word is derived from the French verb gicler meaning "to squirt or spray". Giclée is a fine art digital process where pigment based inks are combined with the best archival paper to create superior archival quality prints.

Why do the screenprints differ in price?

The prints vary in price depending on the number of colours in the design. Each colour used requires a screen (a sort of stencil of that colour used in the deisgn). Each screen costs more money as it takes the printer more time, and makes the design more complex to print.

Green Fingers

All of our designs are printed onto Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper produced from 100% virgin Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF) fibre. Furthermore, the paper is Green-e Certified and produced using wind power. That fact really blew me away when I was first told.

Sizes

Our prints are sized to fit into standard, off-the-shelf 50cm x 70cm, A3 or A4 frames.

To preserve your prints, we recommend not hanging them in direct sunlight as they may discolour over time, and we want you to enjoy them for a long, long time.

Packaging

Each print will arrive in a protective cardboard tube, wrapped in a piece of acid-free tissue paper. They will arrive rolled, but will straighten up in the frame.

Paying

We take payment online through PayPal, a secure and trusted payment service. Once you’ve placed an order, we will confirm by email.

You do not need to set up a PayPal account to order a print.

Deliveries

Orders are usually dispatched within five working days of payment. If for any reason a print is out of stock there will be a delay of no more than 30 days. As soon as this comes to light we will be sure to let you know by e-mail.

Postage within the UK

Our standard UK delivery charge is £8.50 per order, including postage and packaging (P+P). This cost comes from a good quality large diameter cardboard tube to protect your print, some acid free tissue paper, first class recorded delivery, and the time required to package.

If you can't stomach this, come to one of our events and avoid the P+P! We do not make any profit from the postage and packaging.

We send all orders via first class recorded delivery, for which Royal Mail will require your signature upon receipt.

Orders should arrive within 3 working days of leaving us.

Deliveries outside the UK

Our P+P charges:

£15 for everywhere else; arriving 10 - 15 days after leaving us

Please note that any international post may be subject to local import duties and taxes, which must be covered by the customer.

Returns

Almost invariably, our prints arrive in good condition (although rolled) and match or exceed our customers’ expectations. And that makes us happy.

So, in the very unlikely event your print should arrive damaged or faulty, please let us know within 48 hours and we’ll send you a replacement as soon as possible.

If you’re sending it back for any other reason, under the Consumer Protection Distance Selling Act you are entitled to a full refund if the item is returned within seven days of receipt - excluding postage and packaging. Please make sure you return it in its original condition and packaging.

We’d be grateful if you’d enclose a note stating the reason for the return, and telling us whether you’d like a refund or exchange. Please retain your proof of posting certificate, as we cannot be held responsible for anything that gets lost or damaged in transit.

Please give us up to four weeks to process your refund or exchange.
